UX – User Experience Design

The acceptance and success of a new application is determined by an optimal user experience and this is especially the case for mobile solutions. We give UX high priority and our UXQB certified designers and consultants ensure a professional design at all stages of app development.

Mobile solution users are demanding. Whether you are a customer or an employee, smartphone and tablet users expect perfect usability. If this perfection is not met, the success of any app development is at risk.

Our designers are all UX, Interaction Design and Graphic experts and consider themselves as your consultant and designer for your digital experience. In all projects, the four success factors are taken into account: benefits, accessibility, usability and aesthetics- right from the idea and design phase.

For our app designs, we have extensive graphics libraries and templates for each platform. These proven elements have been continually optimized and illustrate the dialogue guidance and numerous standard features. Our extensive graphics library allows us to develop designs and prototypes very quickly and thus economically.

Iterative design process: services and results

In terms of UX design, the software development process is chronologically structured in four sections – Analysis, Concept, Design and Evaluation. The process is iterative and can be repeated any number of times.
It is thus possible to fine-tune and optimise the design solution. Key components are an ongoing, user-oriented evaluation and continuous improvement.

1. Analysis

  • Stakeholder interview: Workshop with different stakeholders to prioritise features and backlog
  • Market analysis: Analysis of comparable solutions to define differences and best practices
  • User journey map: Chronological display of different touch points
  • Persons: Definition of typical end users as fictive persons to take account of various user types with different requirements
  • Fokus group: Moderated discussion with representative participants to identify conflicts of aims

2. Concept

  • User stories: Deployment scenarios concisely expressed in everyday language
  • Screen flow: Flow chart of an application
  • Wireframes: Chart of the user surface
  • Interaktive Wireframes: Static wireframes are interactively linked to simulate interaction and navigation flow
  • Navigation pattern: Comparison of different navigation approaches to analyse usability in terms of target group and deployment scenario

3. Design

  • Mockups: Pixel perfect and realistic presentation of the user interface
  • Click dummy: Mockups are linked by means of logical screen flows to simulate the look and feel and to validate the results
  • Assets: Creation of all graphic elements considering the different resolutions and platforms
  • High fidelity prototype: Development of selected functions to perform tests on the individual end devices
  • Style guide: Design rules of recurring UI elements including their possible position, distance, state and behaviour

4. Evaluation

  • Review: Usability evaluation using dialogue principles or heuristics
  • Hallway testing: Quick and easy identification of problems
  • User survey: Collect subjective data based on the users’ experiences
  • Usability testing: Testing usability and user experience in a realistic context
  • Accessibility: Testing software ergonomics independent of technical or physical restrictions
