Manufacturer of optical solutions - DATAGROUP

In order to standardize and optimize maintenance processes, the mobile maintenance solution OPRA was introduced with the support of DATAGROUP at the plant of a manufacturer of optical solutions, i.e. products and technologies for sensors, lighting and visualization. This gives maintenance staff and employees at the machines access to current orders and information on the machines and past maintenance processes at any time via mobile devices.

Mobilization of maintenance

Maintenance at the customer company is divided into five modules. The company was therefore looking for a comprehensive and intuitive tool that would work across all of these modules, could be used on mobile devices and could replace an existing desktop-based in-house development for displaying incoming orders. The choice fell on OPRA from DATAGROUP.

Instead of having to resort to printed orders, maintenance staff now have access to all current information via mobile devices with OPRA. OPRA mobile is divided into three apps that provide comprehensive support for the maintenance process:

  • Reporting faults

If colleagues notice a fault in the plant, e.g. that a battery is empty or a pump is leaking, this report can be created directly on site via the app. Images or videos can also be attached directly to document the fault.

  • Orders and feedback

The planner can easily create jobs via the intuitive app and assign them to different maintenance staff. In turn, the employees at the machines can provide feedback on the processed orders directly via the app. All data is recorded directly in SAP and can therefore be evaluated for reporting purposes. This makes it easy to see which machine parts are particularly susceptible to faults and the maintenance periods can be adjusted accordingly.

  • Technical objects

Barcodes directly on the machines give maintenance staff access to valuable information about the system. For example, whether there are orders or messages for the machine, what maintenance has been carried out and which parts are installed in the machine.

With the help of OPRA, maintenance staff have all the information they need for their work at their fingertips at all times. By replacing paper-based processes, all data is stored centrally in SAP and can be evaluated and used accordingly. OPRA thus supports predictive maintenance. The desktop version of the software, which is used in the plant, is to be expanded in future to include additional functionalities such as downloading information. In addition, OPRA is also to be used in a plant abroad.
