A group of companies from the education sector has been a DATAGROUP customer since 2014. With our full IT outsourcing service, we have assumed responsibility for the smooth operation of their IT infrastructure. Over the years, we have been able to ensure that their systems run stably and reliably in a dedicated data center. But in the period from 2021 to 2023, we faced a new and exciting challenge together with the customer: migrating their data center to our central CORBOX platform and implementing Microsoft 365.
The decision to migrate the data center to the CORBOX platform was of great importance to the client company, as it allowed them to take advantage of a modern and highly secure private cloud infrastructure. The CORBOX platform offers numerous future-oriented functions and technologies that ensure optimum scalability, flexibility and efficiency for IT infrastructures and operations. In addition to the migration to the CORBOX platform, Microsoft 365 was also to be implemented in order to provide the client company's employees with state-of-the-art communication and collaboration tools.
A particular challenge in this project was the multi-tenant structure of the customer's organization. The migration had to be carefully planned and executed to ensure that all of the group's business units could be seamlessly migrated to the new platform without disrupting operations. Forward planning of the target architecture was therefore crucial to identify the right steps for a successful migration.
Our team of experts began with a detailed inventory of the customer's existing systems, applications and databases. Possible dependencies, configurations and individual requirements were taken into account. Based on this information, we were able to develop a customized roadmap that divided the migration process into several well-coordinated phases.
Another challenge in the migration project was to connect the group's multi-tenant structure to the CORBOX platform. This required close collaboration between our team and the client's employees to ensure that the individual requirements of the different business units and departments were met. Through the clever use of virtualization technologies and the provision of separate environments for each business unit, DATAGROUP was able to create an effective multi-tenant structure.
Parallel to the migration to the CORBOX platform, Microsoft 365 was also implemented for the group. This included the transfer of email services to Microsoft's cloud, the introduction of collaboration tools and the seamless integration of existing company data into the cloud-based platform. Our experts ensured that the client company's employees had smooth access to their data and applications throughout the implementation process. Training sessions and workshops were organized to introduce employees to the new features of Microsoft 365 and support them in using the platform effectively.
