Alphartis SE, one of the largest car dealership groups in Germany, was looking for a partner who could centralize the various servers with third-party software in the operations of its subsidiary ahg Autohandelsgesellschaft at one location. The choice fell on the DATAGROUP subsidiary in Ulm, an IT service provider experienced in such infrastructure projects.
Previously, each ahg location of Alphartis SE had a virtualized 'on premise server' running BMW software for the respective dealership. This not only meant that the corresponding hardware had to be kept available everywhere, but also that support, maintenance and management were time-consuming due to the decentralized format.
DATAGROUP analyzed the existing system to determine the workload and thus the corresponding requirements for a central system. On this basis, DATAGROUP created a design that allows all locations to access the software at the head office and provides room for further growth. DATAGROUP consolidated around 30 servers, which were distributed throughout Germany, into one VX Rail cluster. This simplifies administration and support considerably and reduces costs.
"DATAGROUP has managed to implement a solution through its consulting services that simultaneously offers simple scaling and increases reliability. The project is an investment in the future, as a possible cloud connection is now significantly simplified. We are therefore ideally equipped for further growth. "
Alphartis SE, headquartered in Horb am Neckar, was founded in 1986 as ahg Autohandelsgesellschaft mbH.
