Trading company transforms its IT landscape sustainably

The retail company in the automotive sector had a clear vision and an ambitious goal when it set out to find an external IT service provider: the transformation to an efficient and future-proof IT organization. The background to this reorientation was the spin-off of the company from a larger group of companies, which highlighted numerous challenges and the need for action - particularly in the area of IT infrastructure. After being awarded the contract, DATAGROUP took on a number of responsibilities in this transformation. The company made a significant contribution to its success and continues to ensure the operation and further development of a modern IT landscape at the retail company to this day.

Securing legacy systems, building a new infrastructure

DATAGROUP initially took over the network infrastructure and carried out a comprehensive modernization. By using advanced technologies and proven methods, the infrastructure was optimized and performance significantly increased. In addition to the network infrastructure, DATAGROUP implemented completely new directory services and replaced the existing communication solution with Microsoft technologies based on Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams. All client end devices were replaced during a roll-out and brought up to date with a cloud-based client architecture.

By carefully analyzing and evaluating the existing systems, DATAGROUP was able to carry out a smooth migration to modern platforms while ensuring the continuity of business operations.

Cloud solutions and service desk for smooth IT

Another important step in the transformation was the introduction of hybrid cloud solutions. DATAGROUP developed a customized cloud strategy for the company that ensures the smooth and secure operation of the IT systems. By combining on-premise infrastructure and cloud services, the customer can now benefit from the advantages of both worlds and has increased flexibility and scalability.

The service desk and client operations were also taken over by DATAGROUP. DATAGROUP's experienced team now ensures efficient and smooth support for the customer company's employees. The central Service Desk enables requests and problems to be solved quickly and effectively, while Client Operations monitors and ensures the operation of the end devices and their updates.

Excellent SAP and telephony systems in use

SAP plays a central role for the retail company in the area of business software. DATAGROUP assumed responsibility for the carve-out of the existing SAP systems and has since ensured stable operation as well as continuous optimization and further development. DATAGROUP's expertise in SAP helps to increase the efficiency of business processes and to exploit the full potential of SAP solutions.

Another important component of the transformation was the introduction of Teams telephony and the associated replacement of the existing telephone system. DATAGROUP supported the company in the implementation and integration of Teams telephony, resulting in improved communication and collaboration. Employees can now seamlessly access all telephony features alongside messaging, file sharing and video conferencing.
