Starting with a big challenge, now on the long haul together - that's how you could describe the story of Schaltbau and DATAGROUP. A few years ago, the Schaltbau GmbH Group, a producer of high-quality electronic components, was faced with the mammoth task of consolidating a very heterogeneous SAP landscape. Since this was achieved excellently in cooperation with DATAGROUP, the two companies have been working together on the operation and expansion of the group's SAP systems ever since. DATAGROUP's comprehensive and flexible range of services, CORBOX, also helps here.
Beginning of the success story with SAP transition
A few years ago, the Schaltbau Group was faced with the challenge of a very heterogeneous SAP landscape, working with several service providers and having its data centers at two different locations. Schaltbau's aim was therefore to improve the entire ERP operation, consolidate the systems and standardize the service provider structure. For Schaltbau, with several production sites, SAP is one of the core systems that significantly secure the company's operations.
This was remedied by a transition project lasting several months, which was planned and implemented by DATAGROUP: The Schaltbau Group now has a single optimized, modern SAP system on a future-proof x86 architecture with the highest possible reliability. The direct access to the world's largest Internet exchange node DE-CIX in Frankfurt, as well as the flexibility and scalability provided by the co-location in the data center, are the ideal basis for opening up new business relationships and sales potential.
Reliable and secure: SAP services from CORBOX
On the basis of this excellent joint experience, the customer company decided to entrust DATAGROUP with the operation and further development of the SAP landscape. This means that only one service provider is responsible for the entire SAP system architecture, which significantly simplifies coordination and project implementation. DATAGROUP essentially takes care of
- Operation, maintenance and further development of the company's entire SAP infrastructure including customizing (AMS),
- Service Desk for SAP and
- hosting of individual managed servers via the DATAGROUP data center.
DATAGROUP achieves a very high availability of the SAP systems close to 100 %, which is an indispensable framework condition for reliability and success in the production of highly specialized electrical components for manufacturing companies.
Growing together on a good foundation
This reliability ensures that DATAGROUP has become the first point of contact for the company when it comes to SAP: the IT service provider's experts are available to answer questions of all kinds, advise on module extensions in SAP and assist the customer with special projects. The SAP landscape has grown in recent years under DATAGROUP's support. Examples of this are the introduction of SAP EWM as a warehouse management system or the provision and operation of an SAP system in a newly opened Schaltbau plant.
The reliability and high quality of the IT services provided by DATAGROUP are an important basis for this growth and "growing together" of the business relationship between Schaltbau and DATAGROUP. In addition, the CORBOX with its modular portfolio makes it possible to flexibly add services that the customer needs at any time - without having to go to the trouble of finding a new service provider.
"At DATAGROUP, everyone in the company now simply knows 'You can rely on them'. That gives us a good feeling, even when faced with what at first glance appear to be tricky challenges in our SAP landscape. Because we know: DATAGROUP's experts will use their know-how to find a very good solution and be able to implement it straight away."
