Taking the individual path to SAP S/4HANA
DATAGROUP has been a strategic partner of the Tyczka Group in the areas of IT and SAP hosting and consulting for many years. The development of a transformation roadmap as part of the value check was the start of the journey towards SAP S/4HANA, which the two partners are currently mastering together at Tyczka.
Meeting customer-specific challenges professionally and agilely
DATAGROUP always starts with a good plan: as several SAP system landscapes in the Tyczka Group have to be converted on the way to SAP S/4HANA, the DATAGROUP experts have created an individual roadmap for the customer. This extends over several years and divides the overall program into a sensible project sequence from a technical, resource and economic point of view.
The project program was complex and included several go-lives. For this reason, the Tyczka Group and DATAGROUP held workshops on migration and cut-over for each individual SAP landscape as part of the roadmap. During these workshops, it became clear that in one of the SAP landscapes, selected historical data was essential for day-to-day business and therefore needed to be retrieved and used online even after the changeover. The brownfield approach would be a typical procedure here. However, this would have meant adapting all in-house developments that were already prepared for the transformation.
In order to minimize risk, the customer decided to change strategy based on DATAGROUP's advice. The changeover now involves selective data migration; the SAP system landscapes are not consolidated with one another. This strategic approach is a middle way between the two well-known approaches "greenfield" and "brownfield". In this specific case, the previous system is copied without data and converted to SAP S/4HANA. This "empty" system is then filled with selected historical data via data migration. In order to minimize the impact of the migration on Tyczka's employees in their day-to-day business, it will be spread out over a longer period of time and can be scheduled flexibly.
Mastering the next steps together
The developments for the selective data migration are currently being finalized and further test migrations are being carried out. Functional and process tests are then carried out with the customer's specialist departments. This will be followed by the "dress rehearsal" and the final go-live.
