Like DATAGROUP, ProReServ also works in a solution-oriented manner, with the goal of achieving he satisfied end user. With services in the areas of contract logistics, e-commerce, value-added services, merchandising and rackjobbing as well as sales and administration, ProReServ is regarded in the industry as a central link between manufacturers, distributors and retailers.
Due to SAP's maintenance planning, ProReServ needed to transform its IT landscape. The existing SAP ECC system on HANA was to be converted to SAP S/4HANA. The fulfillment service provider opted for DATAGROUP's Smooth Conversion and became part of DATAGROUP's valued customer base.
"Smooth Conversion" for the brownfield approach
Brownfield means that the existing processes, applications and data are transferred 1:1 to the new S/4HANA world. All necessary Z programs are adapted.

DATAGROUP's methodology, the "Smooth Conversion" is based on a modular approach using two SAP sandboxes. This creates the necessary security in the project.
It is important to the DATAGROUP team to make the brownfield conversion as smooth as possible. Thanks to the modular methodology, the transformation to SAP S/4HANA can be adapted to the customer's day-to-day business, and pauses in the project are also possible. The project duration is therefore individual - in the case of ProReServ, 15 months of close collaboration up to the brownfield conversion paid off.
One project, one team
In addition to the brownfield conversion to SAP S/4HANA, the Travel Management FI-TV integrated in the SAP standard was subsequently introduced. This component supports all travel management processes, from requesting, planning and booking trips to expense reports and forwarding them to other operational areas. This valued tool is now used by all field staff.
DATAGROUP provided expert advice and implementation not only for this component, but for all processes associated with a brownfield transformation. The obligatory Customer Vendor Integration (CVI) was carried out beforehand. This involves the introduction of the new business partner concept for SAP S/4HANA with the associated conversion of customer and supplier master data in SAP ECC. During the changeover to SAP S/4HANA, regular training sessions were held for users to prepare them optimally for using the new system.
The excellent interaction between the small team of experts at ProReServ and the DATAGROUP managers deserves special mention at this point: from the technical conversion, project management and control, implementation of the cut-over plan and go-live to customer support in the hyper care phase, there was continuous, trusting and close cooperation. While the lack of knowledge of the company structure was initially a challenge, this was overcome smoothly thanks to a present, commited and hands-on approach on both sides.
A key success factor in this project was the bridge between the customer's needs and the technical and specialist consulting department. Thanks to regular meetings and agreements, DATAGROUP always had the central theme in hand and was able to act appropriately and flexibly with the customer thanks to the one-team concept.
The added value for ProReServ
- The maintenance of ProReServ's IT system is now secure thanks to the transformation to SAP S/4HANA.
- Modern Fiori apps in travel management were immediately integrated into the new system - Excel lists were replaced by a modern system. The travel management process is now much more user-friendly for all users.
- Other selected Fiori applications were also activated in reporting for management - another added value of real-time analyses under SAP S/4HANA.
