Excellent IT services for the "long haul" and successful project management for the "short haul"
It is probably one of the longest customer relationships in the company's history: DATAGROUP has been providing Generali, one of the largest insurance companies in Germany, with IT services for around 30 years. Such a long partnership creates a great deal of trust - and allows not only day-to-day operations in application management, but also larger transition projects to be successfully mastered, even under challenging conditions.
Long-term partnerships also offer room for new ideas
DATAGROUP and Generali have been cooperating for several decades, but a few years ago the support provided by the IT service provider changed significantly: While DATAGROUP experts were previously mainly in demand as project managers, developers or test managers, the customer now relies on the standardized IT services of CORBOX. DATAGROUP is now also fully responsible for application management for various central IT systems at Generali, e.g. for
- Payment transactions with collection, disbursement, dunning (IBM Mainframe, COBOL, Db2),
- Partner system as the Group's central contact data management system (IBM Mainframe, COBOL, Db2),
- Reinsurance business (IBM Mainframe, SAS),
- Time management and employee time recording (Java portal technology, IBM Mainframe) and
- Business Intelligence (DataStage, Talend).
- The results in day-to-day business show that DATAGROUP can be relied upon: in Generali's internal "Net Promoter Score", the company regularly achieves 10 out of 10 possible points.
Successful project management even in turbulent times
This positive experience was certainly one of the factors that enabled to DATAGROUP to win a major tender against a large number of competitors. As a result, the application management for the payment transaction systems was transferred to DATAGROUP in a major transition project in 2020 - a project successfully delivered under under challenging conditions. After all, consulting together at the conference table, uncovering important details during an informal coffee break, or celebrating small and large milestones all play a crucial role in an IT project. It is not only the formal process and coordination that matter, but also the fact that the chemistry is right. The DATAGROUP experts know this when they set off to work for the customer, because contact and consulting at eye level for the customer is part of DATAGROUP's "DNA".
And then everything changed for this project: The transition had just begun at the start of 2020 - when the coronavirus pandemic hit. From one day to the next, all project-related appointments were moved to the home offices of Generali and DATAGROUP employees and could only be conducted via web conferences. And even though the occasional informal chat inevitably fell short, the professional project management of the DATAGROUP experts* continued to function seamlessly in the remote setup. A clearly defined methodology for transferring know-how from Generali's IT staff to DATAGROUP- complete with quality gates and KPIs- played a key role in this. Thanks to this structured approach, the project was completed on schedule and to the full satisfaction of the costumer.
DATAGROUP has also proven itself in regular operations since then: according to their own feedback, the specialist departments benefit greatly from the fact that the payment transaction systems are managed from a single source and according to defined processes. In addition, their change requests can now be implemented faster than before.
Finally, the long-standing partnership continues grow. With the upcoming expansion of support to additional systems, DATAGROUP is perfectly positioned accompany this development and continue delivering strong results.
