Sunrock develops integrated sustainable energy solutions for logistics and industrial companies. Founded in 2012, Sunrock has grown into a leading European developer of large-scale rooftop solar systems, smart energy management systems, battery storage, and EV charging infrastructure. With over 160 employees across the Netherlands, Germany, and France, Sunrock is accelerating the energy transition across Europe.

The Challenge

Sunrock’s rapid growth led to increasing IT complexity. The organization relied on a fragmented mix of Google Workspace, Box, Slack, and standalone applications—tools that worked individually but created silos. There were no centralized processes, no unified support, and no clear structure. "IT started to get in the way of our growth, when it should be supporting us," says Michiel van Heusden, CTO at Sunrock.


The approach

Sunrock chose DATAGROUP NL (formerly Valid Managed Services) as its IT partner based on technical expertise, security capabilities, migration strategy, and cultural fit. Together, they fundamentally simplified the IT landscape by migrating to a single, centralized Microsoft environment—with a focus on modern workplaces, collaboration, and security. The migration was carried out in distinct phases: preparation and a pilot group, a large-scale workplace rollout, and finally the migration of email, calendars, and meetings. Approximately 160 laptops were reconfigured across three countries, and 24/7 security monitoring was established with a specialized security partner.

The result

The new IT environment gave Sunrock clarity and control. Onboarding new employees was reduced from several days to a single day. Collaboration improved significantly with everything in one environment. Security visibility increased dramatically—providing full insight into device locations, login origins, and real-time incident detection.

Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods is a Dutch family-owned company founded in 1954 that specializes in the production of high-quality milk powders. With four production sites in the Netherlands, an office in Madrid, and over 600 employees, Vreugdenhil processes more than one billion kilograms of milk annually into nutritional products and ingredients exported to over 130 countries.

The Challenge

In this large-scale, production-sensitive environment, a stable and future-proof IT infrastructure is critical. After more than ten years with their previous Managed Services Provider, Vreugdenhil found that the service no longer met their evolving needs. "Our organization has grown, and our IT requirements have changed. Because our previous MSP did not fully keep pace with our growth, we began looking for a partner that better fits our current needs," explains Roger van der Meer, IT Director at Vreugdenhil.


The Approach

Following a thorough RFP process in 2022, Vreugdenhil selected DATAGROUP NL (formerly Valid Managed Services) for its combination of technical expertise, knowledge of production environments, and strong cultural fit. The onboarding began in September 2024 and was successfully completed in December—two days ahead of schedule. The approach was deliberately phased: first stabilize, then optimize. DATAGROUP NL’s dedicated customer team visited Vreugdenhil’s production facilities to gain a firsthand understanding of the operational environment, including the critical IT/OT integration requirements.

The result

Within the first few months, DATAGROUP NL demonstrated its ability to take over and stabilize complex IT environments without disrupting operations. Today, Vreugdenhil and DATAGROUP NL are working together on the transformation phase — further optimizing and automating processes and services.
